Hello, my name is Toneno Ossai, and I am a practicum intern at the Centre, currently pursuing my second Master’s degree—an M.A. in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I also hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling, which have laid a strong academic and practical foundation for my work in the mental health field.

Alongside my graduate studies, I bring valuable hands-on experience through volunteering and co-facilitating therapeutic support groups focused on boundary-setting and personal development. This work has not only deepened my understanding of group dynamics but has also allowed me to witness and appreciate the unique strengths each individual brings to the healing process—an insight that continues to shape my client-centered approach.

With a deep-rooted commitment to mental wellness, I strive to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, valued, and supported. My approach is grounded in empathy, warmth, and unconditional positive regard, ensuring each session is a collaborative journey toward healing and growth. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, identity exploration, mental health concerns, and life transitions, all while respecting their unique cultural and personal experiences.

My practice is informed by evidence-based approaches, and I am dedicated to integrating effective strategies that meet clients where they are in their journey.

Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy cooking, nurturing meaningful connections with loved ones, and participating in activities that promote personal and community well-being.
